Moving to Reigate: An Introduction to the Town and its Areas

Reigate is a market town in Surrey, part of the borough of Reigate & Banstead, and a long-established commuter base thanks to its position on the edge of the North Downs and close to the M25.

The town centre and neighbourhoods

The historic centre is built around the High Street, Bell Street and Church Street. Beyond it, distinct residential areas each have their own character: Reigate Hill on the wooded slopes to the north; Woodhatch to the south on the A217; and Meadvale and South Park towards the Redhill boundary. Reigate Heath lies to the west, and Redhill — the larger neighbouring town — is a short distance east.

Transport

Reigate has its own railway station with links via Redhill to London and Gatwick, and nearby Redhill is a major rail interchange. Junction 8 of the M25 sits just north of the town at the top of Reigate Hill, giving quick access to Gatwick Airport and the motorway network.

Green space and amenities

Few towns of its size have as much green space so close to the centre — the Castle Grounds and Priory Park are both within walking distance, and the North Downs are on the doorstep. The town centre's mix of independent shops, cafés and restaurants means most day-to-day needs are met locally.
